Product Overview

The Roof Clip Kit & Downspout Hanger (DRCK) is designed to secure heating cables on shingle roofs, standing seam metal roofs, and gutters, while providing added support at the top of downspouts. It includes roof clips plus a special fixing bracket that helps protect the heating cable as it passes over sharp edges and keeps the cable positioned where it’s most needed. Compatible with DSR-RGS heating cables and commonly used roof & gutter de-icing layouts.
Additional material required for metal roofs: neutral-cure silicone adhesive (allow ~2 days cure time) and gray adhesive; RTV sealant is applied to the back side of roof clips during installation.

Key Benefits

  • Secure roof & gutter cable routing for shingle roofs, standing seam metal roofs, and gutters.
  • Downspout & sharp-edge protection using a fixing bracket to help protect the cable and hold it in place at transitions.
  • Flexible attachment options with clip mounting by nails/screws (where permitted) or adhesive methods for non-penetrating roof applications.

Specifications

  • Rated voltage: 240V

  • Max permissible steady-state current: 30A

  • Max continuous exposure temperature: 85°C

  • Note: connection point temperature may exceed 60°C

Installation Summary

  1. Plan the heating cable layout per the “Design, Installation, and Maintenance Guide” (RGD) before positioning roof clips and gutter/downspout bracket locations.

  2. Apply RTV sealant to the back side of the roof clip (use a liberal amount where required).

  3. Attach roof clips: for roofs that can be penetrated, fasten with nails/screws (place clip under the shingle and apply sealant on top of nails/screws under the shingle). For standing seam roofs, fasten with adhesive and allow it to cure before installing the heating cable.

  4. Install the heating cable into the roof clip by closing the clamp with pliers (do not damage the outer jacket of the heating cable).

  5. Install the fixing bracket in the gutter/downspout area: secure the cable to the bracket with cable ties, place the bracket along the downspout or sharp edge where mechanical damage risk exists, and fasten the bracket to the structure using a suitable method.

  6. In wider gutters, consider installing two parallel heating cables in the gutter to help maintain a clear melt-water path into gutters and downspouts.
