Product Overview
The Splice Connection Kit (DSK) is designed to splice heating cables together in a secure connection. It is for use with all versions of DSR-PFP and DSR-RGS heating cables in a splice configuration, and can also be used for splice (or tee) connecting. The kit includes insulated and uninsulated crimp components plus multiple sizes of adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing to seal and protect both the bus wire connections and the grounding braid splice.

Installation Summary
-
Prepare each cable end: remove outer jacket 2.4 inch (60mm), unbraid the screen, and twist into one.
-
Remove inner insulation 1.6 inch (40mm), shave the black core material from each bus wire, and remove remaining core material.
-
Seal individual bus wires: apply the Ø12 (1.2inch/30mm) heat shrink tube, heat until glue comes out from both ends, then pinch and hold with pliers for at least 10 seconds (repeat for each cable).
-
Before splice (or tee) connecting, cut off 0.6 inch (15mm) from one bus wire of all cables and keep bus wires separated.
-
Crimp the bus wire connection with an insulated crimp terminal, then cover with Ø12 (4inch/100mm) heat shrink tube and heat until glue comes out from both ends.
- Splice grounding braids: insert braids into the Ø6 (3.2inch/80mm) heat shrink tube, connect with an uninsulated ground braid crimp, move the tube to cover the crimp, then heat until glue comes out from both ends.
- Finish outer seal: slide the Ø16 (5.5inch/140mm) heat shrink tube over the bus wire connection section and heat until glue comes out from both ends.
