Product Overview
The DSR-PFP self-regulating heat-trace cable for pipes is engineered to prevent water and other fluids inside metal and plastic pipes from freezing during cold weather, helping reduce blockages, pipe bursts, and costly system shutdowns. These pipe heat-trace cables are installed along the length of the pipe and automatically adjust their heat output in response to temperature changes, delivering more heat when pipe temperature drops and less when it rises for energy-efficient protection. This self-regulating behavior eliminates the risk of overheating and allows the cable to be safely overlapped or cut to length in the field. DSR-PFP self-regulating heat-trace cables are commonly used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to protect water supply lines, fire sprinkler systems, and process piping exposed to freezing conditions.

Key Features
-
Self-regulating technology – the semi-conductive polymer core varies its electrical resistance with temperature, increasing cable output in cold conditions and reducing power as it gets warmer to provide efficient, targeted freeze protection for pipes.
-
Safe to overlap and cut to length in the field, as the self-modulating behavior eliminates the risk of overheating, allowing installers to tailor the cable to complex pipe runs and fittings.
-
Durable cable construction with a conductive core surrounded by insulation, an optional tinned-copper braid for grounding, and an outer protective jacket made from modified polyolefin for enhanced moisture and mechanical resistance along exposed piping.
-
Versatile pipe freeze protection for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, helping protect water supply lines, fire sprinkler systems, and process piping exposed to freezing conditions.
-
Multiple power output options – available in 3, 5, 8, and 10 W/ft to match different pipe sizes, insulation levels, and operating conditions in pipe heat-trace systems.
Typical Applications
-
Water supply lines in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
-
Fire sprinkler systems exposed to low ambient temperatures
-
Process piping carrying water and other fluids in cold environments
Used to prevent water and other fluids inside pipes from freezing during cold weather, helping to avoid blockages, bursts, and system shutdowns in residential, commercial, and industrial pipe systems.
Installation, Controls & Warranty
-
It is strongly recommended to combine self-regulating heat-trace cables with suitable sensors and controllers to maximize power-consumption efficiency and extend cable lifespan in pipe freeze-protection applications.
-
A variety of sensors, controllers, accessories, and connection kits is available to address different types of residential, commercial, and industrial installations; full details are provided in the installation manuals referenced in the product documentation.
-
DE-ICERMAN offers a 2-year warranty (from the date of purchase) on all cable products and closely monitors the quality of its production and manufacturing process to ensure reliable, long-term performance of DSR-PFP pipe heat-trace systems.
